Coconut Oil has a high saturated fat content, just like our normal butter. It improves the absorption and benefits of omega-3 and -6 fatty acids. These are important fatty acids, essential for the cardiovascular system prevention of inflammation. This Coconut oil also improves the absorption of calcium and magnesium, and the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A,D,E and K) and many different carotenes.
The major part of the saturated fatty acids in the Coconut Oil are the healthy and easy to digest MCT’s. MCT’s are medium chain fatty acids that almost never end up as fat. Their main use is providing extra energy. Half of these MCTs consist of lauric acid, but also relatively large volumes of myristic acid and palmitic acid. And about 7% capric acid, a very effective fatty acid to fight candida fungus. In the body lauric acid is transformed into monolaurin, which is a natural weapon against viruses and bacteria.
